On Saturday, Tad put a very sleepy Lea down for a nap, following the usual routine (diaper change, read books, get in the crib). After he left her room, we were sitting downstairs reading when we heard Lea wailing and yelling. It's pretty unusual for her to get upset at naptime or bedtime, so Tad went to investigate. A short time later, the crying stopped. Tad came right back down and resumed reading his magazine. I looked at him and said, "What the heck was the matter?" He glanced up and said, "We had left her books out on the floor." In other words, my daughter was screaming and wouldn't go to sleep because her books hadn't been put back on the shelf.
I'll add that this kind of behavior isn't all that unusual from Lea.
At some point this weekend, I heard Tad and Lea in the dining room. Lea is saying, "Who made that mess?" over and over, and Tad is saying "Sssshhhhhhh." Turns out Tad had tracked some dirt in on the rug and was trying to clean it up--and Lea ratted him out. Poor Tad--totally out-numbered by the women in the house.
